Philippines is ‘Country of the Year 2015′ in beauty pageants

SOURCE: Manila Bulletin and Global Beauties (by Rap Torres)Global Beauties (GB), a website dedicated to the major international beauty pageants in the world, has named the Philippines as the Country of the Year for beauty pageants in 2015.The Philippines’ success in the 5 grand slam pageants, the only country to do such feat in 2015, showed that the Philippines continues to be a powerhouse and a threat in the international stage.2015 was another great year for Filipinos with the recent wins of Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as Miss Universe 2015, ending the 42-year title drought, and Angelia Ong with a back-to-back win as Miss Earth.Adding to Wurtzbach and Ong were Parul Shah, Hillarie Parungao, Janicel Lubina, and Rogelie Catacutan, who proved that indeed, the Filipina beauty is world-class.Parul Shah came home from Thailand as Miss Grand International 2015 3rd runner-up, Hillarie Parungao placed in the top 10 of Miss World 2015 in China, Janicel Lubina placed in the top 10 of the Miss International 2015 pageant in Japan, and lastly, Rogelie Catacutan placed as a quarter-finalist in the Miss Supranational 2015 pageant in Poland.GB reported that the successful streak of the Filipina beauty queens can be attributed to their “perfect and exotic ethnical blend”, the “fanatic” fans, the preparations, and the organizations behind them, namely, the new Miss World Philippines organization and the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc.The last time the Philippines was named by GB as the Country of the Year was in 2013 when Megan Young won Miss World, Mutya Datul won Miss Supranational, and Bea Rose Santiago won Miss International.
