Two weeks after winning the Miss International 2016 crown, Filipina beauty queen Kylie Verzosa is back in Manila, still in slight disbelief that she came back home with the coveted crown from one of the most prestigious international beauty pageants.
The model and teacher from Baguio City admitted that while she has spent months preparing for the pageant, nothing prepared her for when she was named the winner.
In an Instagram post last Saturday, she recounted all the challenges and sacrifices she had to go through before winning the Miss International 2016 crown.
“Nothing that’s worthwhile is ever easy. They don’t know how much hard work and effort I put in. I had to sacrifice my time, going out with friends, I stayed in on weekends, spent time in the gym everyday, I watched my diet, planned my wardrobe, planned each day daily,” the Filipina beauty queen said.
She added, “I made sure to read as much as I can, gathered the people I needed for help. I would go to the studio and train by myself, I would bug and beg my mentors to keep on training, because to me it was never enough. I would go my my designers and make sure my dresses would fit to the very last inch. I strove for everything to be a 10/10.”
Aside from hard work, Kylie also strengthened her faith throughout her preparation and the competition proper, which was held in Japan last month.
The new Miss International queen admitted that prior to the announcement of the winner, she could not help but cry backstage. She said she left the outcome of the pageant up to her faith.
Even when it didn’t match the gown, she came back onstage wearing a rosary from a fan around her wrist.
“I prayed a lot, my Faith got stronger, this was my whole year. I thought of nothing but Miss International. Maybe, I was crazy. And that’s why, I couldn’t hold back my tears, as my country’s name was called,” she said in her latest Instagram post.
