The much-awaited Miss Universe competition has finally concluded! The Philippines’ Rachel Peters failed to reach the Miss Universe Top 5, ending her quest for the country’s fourth crown in one of the world’s largest pageants.
The Top 5 are the candidates from South Africa, Venezuela, Thailand, Jamaica, and Colombia.
So most Filipinos were hopeful that Rachel Peters would achieve the same feat or even bag the country’s fourth Miss Universe crown.
The massive support from her countrymen made Rachel an early crowd favorite during the preliminary competition, but the Bicolana beauty only made it to the Top Ten on pageant night!
Despite the results, Rachel received encouraging tweets from fellow Pinoys:

Miss Philippines Laura Lehmann has advanced to the Top 40 of the Miss World 2017 pageant ahead of the main competition Saturday in Sanya, China.
Lehmann is among the 20 candidates who won in the Head-to-Head Challenge, a new segment of the pageant where a group of candidates answered a common question.
The Philippines’ bet, who was grouped with candidates from Turkey, Thailand, Lesotho, Myanmar, and Serbia, answered a question on what could be done to address cyberbullying.
“I think it’s a question that we understand, but we also know that it’s something that’s very hard to avoid because sometimes, we can’t really control what other people really say or what other people think,” Lehmann said in her response.
“But I think the best thing we can do is use our platform and use our voices because the whole world is watching us. So whenever we see someone being bullied online, I think that we can’t be passive bystanders. We have to do something about it, we have to point it out, and we have to remind them that trolls and bashers aren’t allowed on our Facebook pages and it’s our job to just post things that are positive rather than negative or something that condemns other people,” she said.
The Head-to-Head Challenge is one of five fast track events of the pageant. Winners automatically qualify for the Miss World Top 40 round.
Meanwhile, Lehmann is also among five finalists of the Beauty with a Purpose segment along with contestants from South Africa, Vietnam, India and Indonesia.
The 24-year old former courtside reporter for the Ateneo de Manila University is pushing for her advocacy to set up a milk bank for the maternity ward of the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in the Philippines.
Proceeds from fundraising projects under her advocacy will provide for the procurement of a pasteurizer, ultra low freezer and breast pumps in the hope of further improving the hospital’s quality of service for indigent children.
