He could have chosen to join the anxious crowd that waited for the bar exam results at the Supreme Court on Tuesday but third placer Jayson Aguilar opted to stay instead at the Saint Padre Pio Chapel in Libis, Quezon City.
Aguilar, a University of the Philippines graduate, obtained a rating of 86.75 percent.
Although he chose to spend time at a chapel named after a saint popular for many miracles, Aguilar did not claim that he relied on divine intervention alone for his achievement, saying he also worked hard by studying all day for the exam. Prayer and work, ora et labora.
The miracles attributed to Padre Pio’s intercession are some of the most well-documented in the Catholic Church.
The Italian priest, who lived from 1887 to 1968, was known for having had the stigmata for 50 years. Stigmata are bleeding wounds that correspond to the wounds Jesus Christ is believed to have borne as he was crucified.
Meanwhile, Aguilar thanked God, his family, professors and girlfriend Rhea for supporting him.
As for his career plans, Aguilar said he wants to engage in private practice to gain experience but said he will let destiny take its course. — VVP, GMA News
