The heartbreaking news was shared by her daughter, Maritess Gutierrez, in a Facebook post.

“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Gloria Galla Gutierrez, aka Gloria Romero, who peacefully joined our Creator earlier today, January 25, 2025,” Gutierrez wrote.

Romero’s wake will be held at Arlington Memorial Chapel in Quezon City, with a public viewing scheduled on January 27 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“In this time of loss, our family deeply appreciates the support, prayers, sympathy, and heartfelt messages we’ve received. She will be dearly missed,” Gutierrez added.

Romero, whose illustrious career spanned over 70 years, was celebrated for her iconic performances in films such as Magnifico, Dalagang Ilocana, Tarima, Tanging Yaman, and Rainbow’s Sunset.

In February 2024, she was honored with a star-studded tribute recognizing her contributions to the entertainment industry. In April of the same year, the Film Development Council of the Philippines awarded her a Lifetime Achievement Award for her enduring impact on Philippine cinema and culture.

Her legacy as a trailblazer, mentor, and inspiration to generations of actors will forever be etched in the hearts of Filipinos.
