vivafilipinas12012025_2Motorists are advised that portions of Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City will be closed starting January 12 as the construction of the Tandang Sora Station of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) begins. This road closure is expected to last until 2028 to facilitate the construction of the station box beneath Mindanao Avenue.

To accommodate the construction, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will divert traffic in both southbound and northbound directions. Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairperson Romando Artes assured that while there may be minor disruptions, efforts are being made to minimize traffic impact.

“If ever there will be an effect, it will be very minimal since [the contractor has] widened the road to compensate for the closed sections,” said Artes.

An estimated 100,000 vehicles travel southbound on Mindanao Avenue, while approximately 70,000 vehicles use the northbound lane daily. To assist motorists, LED screens will be installed along the road to provide real-time traffic updates and navigation support.

The Tandang Sora Station is part of the Metro Manila Subway Project, a 33-kilometer infrastructure initiative connecting Valenzuela to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay. Upon completion, the subway is expected to serve up to 519,000 passengers daily and will connect with the LRT-1, MRT-3, and MRT-7 lines. The entire project is slated for completion by 2029.
