More than 54K families are still affected by the recent strong earthquake

Earth-quake-in-PhilippinesThe Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) reported that 54,504 families or 215,313 individuals were affected by the recent strong earthquake in northern Luzon.

According to DHSUD Assistant Secretary for Support Services Avelino Tolentino, based on today’s August 1 data, 1,047 families or 3,747 individuals are temporarily staying in 42 evacuation centers.

In their observation, more deal with their relatives, it increased to 30,345 from Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mt. Province.

According to Tolentino, 20,533 houses were damaged due to the earthquake and 302 houses were totally damaged.

In this regard, the agency has already activated its shelter cluster teams in region 1, Region 2, and the Cordillera Administrative Region to assist the victims in their needs for food and water, shelter-grade tarpaulins and also providing cash aid.

The department is also coordinating with other government agencies to ensure continued assistance for all affected regions.
