Tanzanian President John Magufuli died of coronavirus disease at the age of 61.
According to Tanzania Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan, their president died of heart complications at the Dar es Salaam hospital.
Magufuli has not been seen in public for more than two weeks and news has spread from the opposition that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Magufuli’s allies did not confirm that he died of the virus.
Magufuli is one of the prominent coronavirus skeptics in Africa where it calls for prayer and herbal-infused steam theraphy to fight the virus.
Tanzania is currently implementing “14 days of mourning” and their flag is half-masted as a tribute to the passing of their leader.
