The Vatican has released a copy of the Mass booklet that will be used for this Sunday’s Papal Mass to mark 500 years of Catholic faith in the Philippines.

Published by the Office of the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff, the booklet contains texts and songs in Italian, English, Filipino, Cebuano and Latin.

The Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Basilica at 10 a.m. (5 p.m. in the Philippines).

Fr. Gregory Gaston, rector of the Pontifical Filipino College in Rome, said the service will be on the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter “so slots are extremely limited”.

Gaston is also the Italian bishops’ coordinator for the pastoral care of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Italy.

About 100 people are allowed inside the basilica to maintain physical distancing due to Covid-19 but giant monitor screens in St. Peter’s Square will be activated for other people.

There will also only be 10 concelebrants including Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Prefect of Propaganda Fide, and Cardinal Angelo Di Donatis, the pope’s Vicar for Rome.

At 12 noon, Pope Francis is also scheduled to pray the Sunday Angelus, where he usually mentions the occasion for the Mass held earlier, and greets the people on the square.

The Mass and the Angelus will be live-streamed for people to watch around the world.
