President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was invited to the opening ceremony of the FIBA World Cup 2023 at the Philippine Arena.
Deputy Event Director Erika Dy said they have passed on the information to Malacañan on the President’s attendance.
Besides the president, Vice President Sara Duterte was also invited.
When the country first hosted FIBA games in 1978, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. attended the opening ceremonies.
The former president even performed the ceremonial toss to signal the start of the game.
The game will begin on August 25 when Gilas Pilipinas will face the Dominican Republic.
