Peruvian lawmakers have rejected a bill that would have advanced elections to December.
This is after Peru’s congress voted on a third bid to move the election from April 2024 and hold it this year, a move President Dina Boluarte seeks to calm the chaos amid anti-government protests.
If you recall, Peru has been embroiled in a political crisis since December when their former president Pedro Castillo was arrested after attempting to dissolve their Congress.
Boluarte first called for the election to be held this year due to the growing protests in the said country.
