Jamie Rivera has launched the inspirational song We Give Our Yes, the official mission song of the 500 Years of Christianity celebration in the Philippines that started last month.
Jamie shared his honor of singing the song at Star Music’s We Give Our Yes virtual media conference yesterday in conjunction with Ash Wednesday. He said, “I think this is really my mission, a mission for me to be able to give people a prayer and, at the same time, they could sing with it as well.”
Jamie first performed We Give Our Yes at Manila Cathedral with the opening of the Archdiocese of Manila of 500 Years of Christianity festivities on February 6.
And now it is set to sing in the Vatican at the mass that Pope Francis himself will officiate for the celebration of the 500 years of Christianity.
It was released by Star Music last Sunday – along with its lyric video, the song has over 150K combined views on the Star Music YouTube channel.
Frank Mamaril directed the music video shot at Manila Cathedral and also featured important Catholic Church events of the past.
Jamie can also be seen here wearing a gown made by Filipino fashion designer Mak Tumang.
The song We Give Our Yes was first commissioned by the Catholic Bishops ’Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the country. It brings the message of faith and hope amid trials and reminders for Filipinos to continue to ‘yes’ to the mission of Jesus.
Multi-awarded church composer Fr. Carlo Magno Marcelo wrote it and multi-awarded hitmaker and ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo produced Jamie’s rendition.
Jamie is a well-known Inspirational Diva so he was asked how religious he really is?“Lumaki ako sa pamilyang religious, hindi talaga siya nawala. Ang maganda sa lumaki ka sa ganoong klaseng pamilya, hindi ba ‘the family that prays together, stays together.’ So kahit anong klaseng paghihirap na dumating sa buhay namin, sa buhay ko, hindi nawala ang faith ko. Nare-realize ko lang na ang hirap ng buhay, pero hindi maso-solve ang problem mo na todo-todo, pero magaan, kasi alam mo na nandiyan si Lord na He will carry you,” she explained that now that we have a pandemic she clung to God even more.
