28-year-old Mark Ken Mariscal died in a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Davao City.

Mariscal became known when he became a contestant in the singing contest “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” on the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime in 2019.

According to a report by Viva Filipinas News Online, the incident happened on Cabantian Road, around 2:45 a.m., Sunday, July 9, 2023.

Based on the initial investigation conducted by the Buhangin Police, Mariscal was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by an identified Ruben Borgonia.

The two were traveling home to Barangay Indangan when they stopped for a moment in front of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO) building to urinate.

While getting off the motorcycle, Mariscal allegedly lost his balance and fell on the side of the road.

At that time, a white car was approaching, so Borgonia allegedly tried to pass it. But the car did not stop and ran over Mariscal.

Rescuers from Central 911 immediately rushed Mariscal to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), but he was declared dead on arrival.

According to a report by ABS-CBN News, the Buhangin Police will focus on the case to find and identify the driver who ran over Mariscal.

They are also asking people with important information related to the incident to get in touch to help with their ongoing investigation.

There is no word yet from Mariscal’s family.
