The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) today confirmed that the controversial former Calauan, Laguna Mayor Antonio Sanchez passed away this morning at the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
If you recall Sanchez, 72, was convicted in the rape-slay case of UP Los Banos student Eileen Sarmenta and torture and murder of Allan Gomez.

Information on Sanchez’s death came from BuCor spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag.
According to him, Sanchez was just caught in his cell motionless around 7:00 am earlier.
As a result, his fellow inmates rushed him to the NBP hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.
Chaclag clarified that Sanchez also has diseases such as chronic kidney disease, hypertension, gastroenteritis, prostate problems, and asthma.
Last year, he was also taken to the hospital when he showed symptoms of COVID-19 when there was an outbreak of the virus at the facility.
