MANILA-The number of new COVID-19 cases continues to rise after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 5,404 new cases today.

This is considered the fourth highest new coronavirus cases recorded since the pandemic began in the Philippines.

Based on DOH data, the highest of more than 5,400 was recorded today since August 14, 2020 where the agency reported 6,216 new cases of the disease.

So far, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 626,893.

“5 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on March 14, 2021.”

The number of active cases or cures jumped to 53,479.

Under the count, 92.4% were mild cases; 4% asymptomatic; 1.4% were severe and critical; while 0.73% were moderate cases.

The number of those healed increased by 71, now to 560,577.

While eight were newly recorded to have died for 12,837 total deaths.

“9 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 3 are recoveries. ”

“Moreover, 3 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.”
